How do I get started with DTU Learn?

The easiest way to access DTU Learn is to navigate to learn.inside.dtu.dk. For a brief introduction to the system, watch the first three introductory videos in the Students Pages.

How do I make sure students get notified when I post new announcements in the course?

All new students receive email-notifications from course announcements.
If a student is not receiving any notifications and asks you about it, tell the students the following:

How can I access DTU Learn on my mobile device?

How can I enroll a student that doesn't want ECTS-points?

When do the students get access to my course?

How can I see what the students see in my course?

Click your name in the minibar and select "View as Student", or "View as Teaching Assistant". If one or the other is not visible, click "Switch". Once you wish to return to your default role view, which for all instructors is set to Teacher, simply click the "X" next to the "View as ..." button.

How do I enable students to share files with eachother?
This can be done in multiple ways:
  • Create a group with the enrolment type '# of groups', set the number of groups to 1 and mark 'Set up lockers'. The students can then use the group locker as a file storage where they have access to all the uploaded files. How to create a group.
  • Create a Discussions forum where all students will be able to attach their files to posts. How to create a discussions forum.
  • Use Microsoft Teams if multiple students are going to work on the same document simultaneously. How to setup Teams through DTU Learn.
Why does the "Select all" function in assignments not select all rows?

The "Select all" function only selects the currently viewed assignments. You must therefore make sure to change the paging to "200 per page" before using the function. If more than 200 assignments have been handed in you will unfortunately have to download in batches of 200.

Why do I get a 'Not authorised'-error?

If you click a link that goes to e.g. a course that you are not authorized to access, you will get a 'Not authorised'-error.
This can happen e.g. when using a DTU Learn link that links to a course you are not enrolled in. In this case, go back to the DTU Learn Homepage. Usually the easiest way is to use the DTU logo in the top-left corner.

Who made DTU Learn?

The name "DTU Learn" is the DTU rebrand of the learning management system Brightspace from the Canadian company Desire2Learn. Brightspace is in use at several universities in Europe and is widely used in the US and Canada. The system was chosen among various candidates in an EU tender based on input and evaluation from students, teachers, and administrative staff.
