2024-2025 Updates Sorted by Tool
Every month, D2L (vendor of Brightspace) implements updates to DTU Learn.
The list below outlines the updates that the Learn Team have considered relevant from August 2024 to August 2025 sorted by Tool.
Assignments
- New assignment type allows students to choose between uploading a file or writing their answer directly in Learn - or both - when submitting an assignment.
- Distribute which TA corrects which student submissions using the Allocate Evaluators feature (Only possible to allocate between students, not submissions).
- View the Learner View of Grade in real time when giving feedback on assignments and toggle student view visibility.
- Teachers can bulk retract feedback on assignments, reverting published feedback to draft.
Quizzes
- Offline print option for quizzes supporting all native Brightspace question types.
- Reopen a student’s most recent quiz attempt to resume where they left off.
- Students can view feedback on quiz attempts directly from the Grades page.
- Quiz statistics now include filters for Sections or Groups.
- Associate a Rubric with Written Response questions in Quizzes.
- Workflow for manually grading quizzes has been streamlined.
Groups
- Group size limit increases from 200 to 3000 users per group (from 28/8-25).
- Bulk enroll/unenroll students in groups using CSV file.
- Export group enrollment data to CSV for attendance/class/contact lists.
- Restore deleted groups and categories via new Recycle Bin feature.
Grades & Rubrics
- Retrieve grade values in bulk using Brightspace API.
- Control when grades from integrated tools (e.g., Feedback Fruits) are written into the grade book or reset integrated activities to "Ungraded" without deleting grade book columns.
- Rubrics now allows auto-setting values for all criteria without a value (e.g., set all to max/min).
- Rubric criteria descriptions can now be up to 500 characters (previously 256).
New Content Experience
- Nested modules up to five levels are now supported (previously three).
- Navigation buttons added for easier movement between topics.
- Search field is added to Content.
- Add Descriptions to Topics in Content.
- “HTML Document” is now renamed to “Page”.
- Choose between Topic completion criteria Automatic or Manual – When choosing Manual, an “Mark as Complete” button will be visible to students to manually complete Topics.
Other Platform Updates
- New Courses tool for manuallu creating and copying courses, as well as viewing course templates. (Legacy Course Management tool available until February 2026.)
- Pulse app now displays recurring calendar events from the Events tab.
- Media Library UI updated for efficient media management across courses.
- The following browsers are no longer supported: Chrome 67, Edge 80, Safari 12, Firefox 67.
